The "Banks
Bowling Association" was established in 1935, to spread the
interest in the game of bowling amongst employees of the banks.
Membership is open to men employed by, or receiving, or due to
receive a retirement pension from any Bank in the United Kingdom, or who
had a minimum of five years service in a bank. We have an interesting
fixture list with approximately forty seven matches against County,
Association or various Club sides, indoor and outdoor during the year.
All members who apply for match selection are considered on an equal basis, and receive roughly the same percentage of games for which they apply, irrespective of their age or ability. Being an Association there is no "Home Ground" as such, but for the few reciprocal fixtures that are played, the Hong Kong and Shanghai Sports and Social Club, and The Royal Bank of Scotland (both at New Beckenham, Kent) kindly permit the use of their facilities. Most of our 260 members are from Kent, Surrey and Sussex, but another twenty counties are also represented. Membership is only £4.00 per annum. Annual Lunch will be held on Friday 7th November 2008 Annual General Meeting Monday 17th November 2008
